Kids for Kids’ annual end-of-year Family Fun Day celebration to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was held on Saturday, June 2nd at Brooklyn’s Aviator Sports & Events Center. With about 1,000 guests in attendance, Kids for Kids was proud to present St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with a check for $1,578,417!
In years past, Kids for Kids has regularly raised over $1 Million for St. Jude and this success would not be possible without the support of the Family Fun Day sponsors, vendors, and volunteers, as well as the Kids for Kids Committee and Junior Committee.
Presented by East Coast Energy Group for the second consecutive year, the Family Fun Day was just that — a fun day for the family! Meister Seelig Fein LLP was the first ever Ad Journal Sponsor and was joined by about 80 additional sponsors.
Outside, the carnival rides ran all day, an airconditioned video game trailer enticed those who needed a break from the sun, and the variety of food trucks and outdoor BBQ kept everyone satisfied.
Inside Greg T of Z100’s Elvis Duran Morning Show lit up the stage as the event’s host and MC! Many in attendance stopped in their tracks as they recognized his voice. Throughout the day, Greg T was joined on stage by a number of special acts such as the mind-bending contortionist and circus acts of the Acrobats of Phoenix Entertainment and several St. Jude speakers who brought purpose to this annual fundraiser with their stories about the miracles that take place at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
- Emily Greer, St. Jude’s Chief Executive Administrator, informed all in attendance of the work that goes on at St. Jude on a daily basis and provided insight into how money raised at events like the Family Fun Day and the collective efforts of the Kids for Kids Foundation impacts the hospital’s success.
- Nick, a promising basketball star at the start of his journey, has been able to return to the court and has recognized another passion through his experience battling leukemia at St. Jude. He shared his story in the form of a rap song on stage with his cousin, Antonio, and looks forward to releasing an album!
- The Feliciano’s, a local New York family, celebrated their son’s very recent completion of treatments remission as they shared his story on stage.
Listening to those who have actually been to St. Jude — whether as patients and families or as visitors and supporters, such as many members of the Kids for Kids Committee as they take a trip to Memphis, TN every year — you cannot help but be moved.
Cliff Floyd, former left fielder of the New York Mets, joined us for photo-ops and autographs while other special costumed characters, stilt-walkers, and jugglers made their rounds among the audience. Face-paint and balloon artists livened up the faces of the many kids in attendance, literally!
Kids for Kids would like to thank all who attended and hope those who did not will join us next year!
Here’s to a Decade of Making a Difference — 10 years and $10 Million later, Kids for Kids is truly making an impact!
