What’s the difference between the Luxury and Standard Squads?
Just the cart! Luxury Squads will be provided an off-road, all terrain cart for use on course while Standard Squads will be provided a basic golf cart. All other elements of this event experience are exactly the same for guests of both types of squads.
What if I have never operated a firearm or participated in a Sporting Clays event?
You are among friends here! Participation in this event requires ZERO experience! However, firearm safety, in addition to the overall safety of our guests, is a top priority of our Kids for Kids and Orvis Sandanona Teams. Prior to the start of the round of sporting clays, a Safety Training will be conducted by the Orvis Sandanona Team and while on course, their seasoned group of Trappers will be positioned at each shooting station to provide additional safety and support. These Trappers will assist with your form, technique, and share their wisdom to help improve your shot over the course of the day!
Can I use my own firearm?
Yes, BUT there are limitations to the type of firearms that are permitted on the course and ALL firearms must receive approval from the Kids for Kids and Orvis Sandanona Teams at least ONE WEEK prior to the event. This is NON-NEGOTIABLE, no exceptions will be made if this procedure is not properly followed. To submit your firearm for review, contact Melanie Tassone at mtassone@kidsforkidsnyc.org.
What do I need to submit for my Squad to be fully registered?
Initially, the main contact purchasing the squad will be required to submit their own information including First and Last Name, Company, Address, Phone Number and Email Address. At the time of purchase, this main contact has the opportunity to list guest names, phone numbers and email addresses for each, however, it if that information is not known at that time it can be updated at a later date. As the event date approaches, the main contact for each squad will be prompted via email to update all guest information. Please note all guest information including First and Last Name, Phone Number and Email Address, must be submitted by Friday, April 5th.
Is this event Rain or Shine?
Yes, our Sporting Clays Events are still conducted even with inclement weather. Decisions on weather and the experience of this event will be made by the Kids for Kids and Orvis Sandanona Teams with the underlying theme of ensuring the safety of all guests, staff, vendors and volunteers involved. In the event of lightning while on course, the Orvis Sandanona Team will initiate their procedures to pause play until permitted to continue.
What is the suggested attire for this event?
As this event is held fully outdoors, and the weather can be unpredictable, we encourage all guests to dress in layers and be comfortable. If rain is in the forecast, a change of clothes is strongly suggested as are proper rain attire. For our ladies, comfortable sneakers or boots are the way to go – no opened toe shoes or heels, take our word for it! Lastly, don’t be afraid to get a little dirty! – that is all part of the greatness of this event in the beautiful outdoors of Upstate NY!
