Brothers Brian Jr. and Johnny Kaminskey have a love for racing cars and helping others. Two years ago they began to combine their passions and now they are making their permanent mark on Kids for Kids.
Brian Jr. and Johnny grew up attending the Kids for Kids Annual Family Fun Day event, but it wasn’t until they saw their dad, Kids for Kids Founder and Board Chair, Brian Kaminskey use his own love of racing to host the Racing for a Cure event in April 2019.
After helping raise over $120,000 at that event, Brain Jr. and Johnny were motivated to get more involved and approached the Kids for Kids Team with beginning a Long Island Junior Committee Chapter. They dedicated themselves to reaching out to their friends and family and three months later, the first Long Island Junior Committee meeting was held with 20 members.
Today, Brian Jr. serves as the Long Island Chapter Vice President. He continues to help grow the Long Island Chapter by recruiting his friends from his school and the race track to join the Junior Committee. Being part of Kids for Kids has given Brian Jr. the chance to step back and be thankful for his health and family.
“I am very fortunate to be in the position to help others in need. Every day I wake up with a smile on my face knowing that my friends and I can make a difference in a child’s life by contributing to this amazing charity” Brian Jr. states when asked about what motivates him to continue to raise funds and awareness for children struggling with medical challenges.
For Johnny, being a part of Kids for Kids is about spending time with his family while giving back. Johnny recruited his cousins, Katherine and Luke Kaminskey to join the Long Island Chapter. They are constantly brainstorming new, fun, exciting fundraising ideas, and look forward to continuing the family legacy of giving back to others.
Both Brian Jr. and Johnny continue to make their Kids for Kids Family and father proud. At our 11th Annual Family Fun Day, Brian Jr. and Johnny were awarded the Kids for Kids Junior Committee Trailblazer Award, recognizing their passion and dedication to expanding the Kids for Kids mission. They are currently working on their own grass-roots events including a “Coffee & Cars” exotic car show.
