Joining the Global GivingTuesday Movement in Our Own Style
December 1st, 2020 was a momentous day for Kids for Kids as we joined the global GivingTuesday movement and kicked off our all-new annual fundraising campaign: Gifts for the Kids.
GivingTuesday
GivingTuesday is a “global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.” It takes place on the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, prompting consumers to give back to a charity of their choice during the country’s most popular shopping days. The GivingTuesday 2020 Impact Report summarizes all the incredible examples of generosity witnessed throughout the year, including #GivingTuesdayNow which was an emergency-initiated campaign launched mid-pandemic on May 5, 2020. Among the many impressive stats summarized in this impact report, one takeaway to note is that more than $2.47 Billion was donated in online donations this year which is 25% higher than 2019 online contributions. This year, as Kids for Kids joined in on the fun we also saw a massive swell of support from new and long-time donors.
Gift for the Kids
Gifts for the Kids was our all-new end-of-year fundraising campaign which we debuted in conjunction with GivingTuesday. However, Gifts for the Kids is not your typical donation campaign. Instead of donating a self-selected amount, our donors were given specific denominations between $25 and $1,000 each with a specific purpose showing exactly what that dollar amount can provide in our Kids for Kids Community. For example, the $100 donation covered the supplies needed for a future Junior Committee Fundraiser and the $500 denomination covered the cost of round-trip airfare for a Junior Committee Member to visit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to see first-hand the impact that they are making. The best part of Gifts for the Kids was that it helps show our donors all of the good their money is bringing to the Kids for Kids Community, our Junior Committee, beneficiary hospitals, grant families and more. It also helped to show how every donation to Kids for Kids, no matter how big or small, helps continue our mission.
While the campaign opened before December 1st and continued afterward, for anyone who donated on GivingTuesday, our Junior Committee Members sent a personal thank you letter along with a Kids for Kids holiday ornament as a token of our sincerest gratitude for each donor’s gift.

Donors Like YOU Made this Possible
On just December 1st alone, alongside the millions of others who participated in GivingTuesday, we raised over $6,000! With such great support for this campaign, we set our sights even higher aiming to raise $14,000 by the end of the year. And because we have extremely dedicated and generous donors, we surpassed that goal and nearly hit the $20,000 mark. Amazing!
We especially want to thank Steve Markowitz of Samson Funding, Jack Bonsangue of The Money Channel, Anya Rosen of Vincent Limousine, Alfred Caiola of the Caiola Real Estate Group & Nicholas Cammarato who each made significant donations that pushed us well beyond our original goal and directly made this first giving campaign a success!
What’s Next?
With the success of Gifts for the Kids and the great turnout for GivingTuesday, we are growing our campaign in 2021. Mark your calendar for this year’s GivingTuesday on November 30, 2021, and keep an eye out for ways you, your family, and your company can get involved to help us meet our goal of $25,000!
In the meantime, check out our events page for upcoming in-person events & virtual challenges.
